Post-Covid symptoms 11618...India

A 50-year-old man contracted Covid-19 in Aug 2020 with body ache, fever, headache, nasal congestion and cough and the symptoms resolved within two weeks with allopathic treatment. However, consuming more than one cup of tea or coffee daily (his usual daily intake being 2 to 3 cups) triggered nasal congestion and cough, which aggravated on exposure to cold air and at night. Each episode subsided within a week of reducing intake of tea/coffee, but he was very fond of tea and coffee.

By 30 Sept he developed daily excessive burping, burning sensation in chest, feeling of bodily heaviness due to gas retention, and rash on his hands, abdomen, chest and back. Attributing these symptoms to post-Covid effects, his physician prescribed antibiotics and antiallergic medication which he chose not to take, due to their potential side effects. Instead, he managed his condition by staying well-hydrated, applying coconut oil to affected areas, and limiting tea/coffee intake to one cup daily.

By Apr 2021, even a single cup would trigger immediate nasal congestion and cough, disrupting his daily routine. He became increasingly cautious about his diet and anxious that other foods might also trigger the symptoms. On the recommendation of an acquaintance, on 15 Sept 2021 he consulted the practitioner who gave him:

For excessive burping, burning sensation in chest:

#1. CC4.2 Liver & Gallbladder tonic + CC4.4 Constipation + CC4.8 Gastroenteritis + CC4.10 Indigestion…TDS

For nasal congestion, cough:

#2. CC9.2 Infections acute + CC19.2 Respiratory allergies + CC19.3 Chest infections chronic + CC19.5 Sinusitis + CC19.6 Cough chronic + CC19.7 Throat chronic…TDS

#3. IB (see vol 11#5)…OD

Treatment progress:

As of Oct 2026, there has been no recurrence.

Editor’s note: Post‑Covid reflux and cough are common, and tea/coffee can worsen both acidity and reflux‑induced cough.
